Kurt Geiger is celebrating a record Christmas after handbags flew off the shelves.
Sales of the luxury brand’s handbags rose 54 per cent throughout the festive period, helping December become the retailer’s most profitable month ever.
The British fashion label has defied gloom in the wider industry and boss Neil Clifford declared the brand is ‘going big in North America’.
The group is opening five stores in the US and in Mexico in the next few months.

Clifford said: ‘Seeing our growth in the region, we believe our creative and social spirit and our statement-making styles aren’t just for Londonphiles.
‘We love the idea of Kurt Geiger being a worldwide conduit of London’s pop culture scene.’
North America is the brand’s fastest-growing and biggest market thanks to celebrity fans including reality TV stars Kylie Jenner and singer Rihanna.
The firm has cashed in on soaring demand for ‘affordable luxury’ as more expensive rivals like Burberry and Mulberry suffer from slowing sales. A campaign featuring model Emily Ratajkowski showcases the latest collection called Chelsea.
